Acupuncture and Clomid

Acupuncture and Clomid for Ovulation
The London Acupuncture Space recommend at least a six week fertility acupuncture course prior to taking clomid then recommends weekly acupuncture for the subsequnet menstrual cycle.

Often, Clomid, an ovulation fertility drug, is the first approach used in western medicine even for women ovulating. Commonly, clomid would only be given for up to three cycles.

Clomid (also known as Comifene, Clomiphene, Serophene, or Milophene) is generally taken on day 2 or 5 of your cycle for five consecutive days.

The London Acupuncture Space advocate follicular tracking and monitoring of clomid cycles to avoid over stimulation as well as to determine ovulation.

Benefits of Acupuncture with Clomid
The London Acupuncture Space has an integrated approach to fertility and acupuncture can negate some of the side effects, such as hot flushes, decreased cervical mucus production, increased emotion and possible breast tenderness.

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine is commonly combined with clomid to help increase the chances of pregnancy.

Our Acupuncture, Clomid and IUI (IVF) Programme

Acupuncture Before IUI (IVF)
Fertility acupuncture, reflexology and nutrition for at least 3-4 months prior to IVF is recommended to prepare the body for treatment and to ensure that both partners are in their optimum state of health emotionally and physically.

During this time, it is possible to have an impact on the health of both the egg and improve the quality of the sperm.

Even a six week fertility acupuncture programme prior to IUI is beneficial.

Acupuncture with Clomid and IUI Cycle
One of the primary uses of Clomid is in conjunction with IUI (Intrauterine insemination).

Clomid, is taken in pill form rather than by injection, which is easier and simpler. Secondly, studies report that Clomid has an 80% success rate of stimulating ovulation.

Acupuncture is recommended on a weekly basis during an IUI (IVF) cycle using clomid.

Acupuncture Before Sperm Sample
We recommend a single fertility acupuncture treatment for the male prior to providing the sperm sample to relieve anxiety.

Where there is male factor infertility, a fertility acupuncture programme is recommended for the male to optimise sperm quality, motility and count.

Acupuncture and Implantation
We recommend two fertility acupuncture treatments during the two week wait period before you take a pregnancy test. The first acupuncture treatment is to promote implantation which occurs about 5-6 days after IUI.

Acupuncture Before Your Pregnancy Test
The second treatment during the two week wait is to support you emotionally, to ease anxiety and promote relaxation.

If you have a positive pregnancy test...
We recommend weekly acupuncture treatment during the first trimester, up to week 12/13.

The treatments are gentle and supportive and help promote a healthy pregnancy. We offer a acupuncture during pregnancy programme to support all stages of pregnancy. Read more about Pregnancy Acupunctureand Pregnancy Reflexology
